President OTSUJI attends the annual Nagasaki Peace Memorial Ceremony

On August 9, 2024, Mr．OTSUJI Hidehisa, President of the House attended the annual Nagasaki Peace Memorial Ceremony held in the Peace Park in the City of Nagasaki.

At the ceremony, the list of the the names of atomic bomb victims whose passing away was confirmed in the past year was enshrined at the site. President OTSUJI, the representatives of the bereaved family members, and the atomic bomb survivors offered wreaths. Afterwards, the Bell of Nagasaki was rung at 11:02 a.m., the time when the atomic bomb was dropped, and all the participants offered a minute of the silent prayer.

The day before the ceremony, President OTSUJI visited residents in the nursing home for atomic bomb survivors “Megumi no oka” to comfort them.
