Born September 21, 1970, Ishikawa Prefecture; raised in Shiga Prefecture. Attended Omi Brotherhood Senior High School; graduated from the Faculty of Liberal Arts of the International Christian University (ICU). After completing a Masters degree at the School for International Training (SIT), United States, joined the Department for the Promotion of Competency Extension in the Human Resources Division of McDonald's Japan. First elected to the House of Councillors from the Proportional Representation constituency in 2001 while undertaking Ph D studies as a mature-age student at Aoyama Gakuin University. Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology from 2005-2006. Re-elected to the House of Councillors in 2007. As a young member of the ruling party, continues a nationwide dialog focusing on "problem resolution through a combination of a solid vision of the state and a down-to-earth lifestyle view". With the conviction that "education is the foundation of national character", strives to protect the sanctity of life, family bonds and respect for the nation.
